The new MG5 is the first fully Electric estate car in Europe, it's well priced, has more range than the ZS EV and offers a rather engaging drive, yes it may resemble what you picture an MG as or have as much safety, however its fantastic value.
The first thing you notice is that the MG 5 doesn't follow the currnet design language of the brand, mind you there's a good reason for that, it's based on the Roewe ei5, meaning it also doesn't have all the safety you see in the new ZS, ZS ev and HS.
The electric estate car has 214m range which increases to around 270m in the city, and hits 60 in rather nippy 7.7 seconds, it's roomy, versatile and practical.
We thought we'd see how the MG5 would fair on treacherous mountain roads, hair raising hairpins and steep hills.
Where better than on our doorstep, well kind of... the Rynose Pass and HardKnot Pass, our journey takes us just 100 miles on a round trip, we also utilise the M6 to see how speed affects the car.
Part 2 coming soon.
The MG HS Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle is here, and it's quite something, the HS Hybrid as we've dubbed it starts at just under £30k.
Now this may sound high, but compared to similar PHEV SUV's it's extremely well priced, the Exclusive trim which adds LEDs, trim options etc starts at just under £32500.
Watch our adventure as we take the MG ZS EV on a road trip of over 400 miles, we use apps, we charge and we have fun, this is Part One, two and three to follow.
