The new MG4 EV is just around the corner and we've just seen the release price, and to put it bluntly they're quite staggering - considering its a full BEV that starts at less than £26,000 for a family sized electric car, the new MG goes on sale in September

The starting price is £25,995 for a fully electric car, now that's an extremely good price, this is cost of most petrol hatchbacks suitable for a family.

This is an intelligent move from SAIC and let's face it you will find other electric cars including the VWG models built on the MEB platform - ID3, Cupra Born etc however these are priced a for bit higher. The MG4 was unveiled a few weeks ago take a look at our video below.

Now that the full prices and specs have been confirmed people can start deciding which MG4 suits you an SE short range or the higher Tropy Long Range.

This is the third electric vehicle from SAIC owned MG, this latest model has opted for a single motor and interestingly it's a rearwheel drive layout, when it comes to the powertrain you have two options, however MG have simplied it SE is short range and Trophy is Long Range nice and easy, the latter is 51kWh and 64kWh, 218 miles and if you go for the bigger battery size you get up to 281 miles of range.

At first glance you can tell it's in MG, it has a modern sporty look and you can see their sleek design language similar to the Marvel R and MG5 for example the air intakes on the front and the styling below the big bumper, stylish alloy wheels and automatic LED headlamps functionality too.

Now we'll be seeing this rather soon I expect before September when it launches in a nutshell you can choose either a 51 kWh short range SE MG4 or the larger 64 kWh now if you opt for the smaller battery you'll still get 218 miles the same as an MG4 five - if you'd like to see the MG5 walkaround on Electric Avenue at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 take a look at our video.

The MG4 EV SE comes with the options of the standard range or long-range battery, 118 or 270, there will also be a long range SE with 281 mile range.

The SE will be the most cost-effective of the range at £25,995, yet still offer a similar range to an MG and have a decent level of tech.

MG4 Specifications SE

  • 17 inch alloys
  • Automatic LED lights
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • LED Brakelights
  • Reversing Camera

MG4 Trophy Specifications - as above plus

  • Blindspot detection
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • 360 Camera
  • Heated front leather seats
  • Wireless phone charger

As of late MG have been pulling out the bag when it comes to tech all new model gets a 7in digital drivers display and a 10 1/4in infotainment system with Apple carplay and Android Auto

Over the SE the Trophy which is the highest spec (previously known as Exclusive and Trophy Connect) you get upgraded safety and tech too including features to help you reverse safely - as you can see above.

It's certainly a good looking vehicle and catches the imagination, if anything it reminds us a bit of the Cupra Born its sporty sculpted headlamps and its proportions they really suit. It's chunky with it's pronounced side skirts and it has ome really interesting design cues including a two-part rear spoiler and a full width rear light bar with LED brake lights that compliment that lightbar.

The interior looks far sleeker, with minimalist looks - just from a glance you can see it's got centre cupholders and an armrest and supportive buckety seats it looks rather premium, especially with the dark interior that we've seen it with - stay tuned to find out more.
