The BMW i4 eDrive40 M Sport, with its striking appearance, introduces a new era for Gran Coupé design. The vehicle boasts the iconic BMW kidney grille, which, in this model, serves an aesthetic rather than functional purpose, housing various sensors instead. Its sleek profile, frameless doors, and coupe-like roofline not only enhance its sporty allure but also improve aerodynamics—a crucial aspect for electric vehicles.

 

Inside, luxury and technology converge to create an environment that is both inviting and innovative. The use of premium materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and a driver-centric cockpit design reflects BMW's luxury pedigree. The curved display integrates both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system into a single unit, creating a futuristic yet user-friendly interface.

 

The heart of the i4 eDrive40 M Sport is its 81.1 kWh high-voltage battery, which powers a rear-mounted electric motor. This setup delivers 340 horsepower, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 5.6 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 118 mph. The battery supports a range of over 300 miles on a full charge, making it ideal for long road trips like our journey to Liverpool.

 

Equipped with 200 kW DC fast charging, the i4 can regain up to 90 miles of range in just ten minutes and achieve an 80% charge in about 31 minutes. For home charging, the 11 kW AC charger fully replenishes the battery overnight, ensuring it is ready for daily use without any hassle.

 

The inclusion of the M Sport package significantly enhances the driving dynamics of the i4 eDrive40. The adaptive M suspension, specifically tuned for this model, optimises ride comfort and handling, allowing the car to perform exceptionally well on both highways and winding roads. The low centre of gravity and balanced weight distribution - typical of BMW’s EV designs - contribute to a driving experience that is both exhilarating and secure.

 

The BMW i4 is at the forefront of connectivity and automotive technology. Its iDrive 8 system is one of the most advanced on the market, featuring natural voice control, gesture control, and an intuitive touch interface. The vehicle’s structure is reinforced to protect occupants and the battery in the event of a collision, with high-strength steel used in critical areas. Additionally, the car is equipped with an array of airbags, ensuring superior protection from multiple angles.
